Thirty years of weekly quiz

I HAVE often referred to it before now, but one man in Fermoy who definitely deserves to be honoured is Jim Lysaght of Cork Road.
Jim, who is retired from his job with the Water Department of Cork Co Council after many years with them, devotes a lot of his own personal time to helping out schools, hospitals, clubs and the many other organisations in the Fermoy District by means of the Monday night Quiz. He organises quizzes along with rowing club colleague Danny Higgins on behalf of the Fermoy Rowing Club and another club, charitable organisation or any other group, on the Monday nights between October and the end of March each year,
Jim has been setting quiz questions and acting as quizmaster for 30 years this year. Surely, this should rank as one of the longest running quiz events in the country.
Danny is in charge of the bookings and he can be contacted on 087-6638438. The quiz is for teams of five or less. It starts at 8.30 p.m. at the Grand Hotel and you can be sure to be out again before 10.30 p.m. All are welcome to join in the fun on any Monday night at the Grand. A great night is to be had by all!
