Sixth craft fair celebrates the magic of Christmas

THE IRD Duhallow ' Hands of Duhallow' Craft Network will celebrate the Magic of Christmas at their sixth annual two-day Christmas Craft Fair in the idyllic setting of The James O' Keeffe Institute, Newmarket on Saturday/Sunday, November 24/25, from 12pm to 6pm.

Exhibitors will showcase and sell their unique products including sculptures, pottery, jewellery, woodcraft and knitwear. Christmas Gifts/Cards/Christmas Wreaths/Flowers will also be available as well as spectacular Christmas food. Access to the public is free of charge and you will get to meet and buy direct from the maker. We hope you join us in our Christmas Celebration of Hands of Duhallow.

IRD Duhallow will hold an information session on "Safety Issues for Older People" on Monday, November 26, at 2pm in the James O'Keeffe Institute, Newmarket.

This event will focus on how you can ensure your safety in your home and protect yourself from crime and abuse in your own home. With recent burglaries and break-ins to houses locally, this is a great opportunity to receive advice.

The seminar will also cover the topic of elderly abuse and how to ensure that a neighbour, family member or carer is not trying to take advantage or disrespecting an older person in your community. Guest speakers include Sergeant Don Murphy and Garda John Crowley as well as John O' Mahoney of Age Action Ireland. To register please contact Helen at (029) 60633.

IRD Duhallow will hold an information seminar entitled "Manage Your Life by Managing Your Mind" on Wednesday, December 5, at 7.30pm in the James O'Keeffe Institute, Newmarket.

Topics on the night will include Coping with Stress in the Home and Bullying in Teenagers". Guest Speakers Dr. Brendan Byrne and Dr. Fergus Herrernan.
