Pipe band in its 50th year

PLANS TO COMMERMORATE THIS MILESTONE WITH A SOCIAL ON MARCH 9

NEWMARKET Pipe Band reaches a significant milestone in 2013 as it celebrates it 50th anniversary. To commemorate this momentous event a social will be held in the Charleville Park Hotel on Saturday, March 9.

The pipe band looks forward to celebrating this with many of its former members, family, friends and the wider community. It will be an opportunity to reminisce about the early days of its foundation and mark it's achievements over the years up to the present day. Further details about the social will be issued shortly.

The band recently held their Annual General Meeting on Friday, January 4, last. The band completed another very successful year in 2012, completing many engagements throughout the Munster region these including: the Newmarket Festival, their annual visit to Puck Fair in Killorglin, Co. Kerry and their attendance at the Duhallow and Mid Cork finals.

The following positions were filled as a result of the AGM:

Chairman Ted Singleton Secretary Alison Fitzpatrick Treasurer Denis Jones

Six committee members: Michael Flynn, John Murphy, Joanie McAuliffe, Tom Arnold, Karen O'Sullivan and Michelle Manning.

PRO: Mark O'Sullivan; Transport Officer: John Murphy; Registrar: Donie Forde; Uniform Officers: John Murphy and Karen O'Sullivan; Children's Officer: Karen O'Sullivan

Musical positions: Drum Major Tom Arnold Drum Sergeant Michael Flynn Pipe Major Alison Fitzpatrick Pipe Sergeants Mairead O'Neill and Joanie McAuliffe.
