IT was another bitterly cold weekend at Mallow Golf Club but that didn't stop Joe Crowley from taking the spoils in the Thompson's Air Systems Ltd 18 Hole Stableford Competition which took place on Saturday and Sunday.

Joe, who currently plays from a handicap of 21, recorded a very impressive tally of 42 points on his way to a well deserved victory.

Adrian Horgan (4) picked up the Category One award with John Liston (16) taking the honours in the category two section.

Michael Downey (16) also got rewarded for his efforts as he collected the Category 3 prize.

Other prizes on the weekend went to Edward Walsh (14) for best Saturday with David Forde (6) taking the award for Best Sunday. Best round of the weekend went to Brian Attridge (scr) who took on and beat the conditions with a very impressive 1 under par total.

While most of the local golfers were battling the elements in Ballyellis there was more Munster success for Nora O'Connor in the Munster Junior Championship.

The Mallow golfer stormed to her third Munster Junior title at Dooks Golf Club. After winning the title back in 1991 and 2011, O'Connor showed she had lost none of her fighting spirit as she dominated the final to win out on the 16th hole.

The success is nothing more than the talented golfer deserves as she continues to perform at a very high level.
