"MITCHELSTOWN is back on the map, this is a positive story for the town."

"MITCHELSTOWN is back on the map, this is a positive story for the town."

That was the verdict of Mervin Hodgins, founder and managing director of Hodgins Foods following the news that the Mitchelstown-based company has secured a €400,000-a-year deal with Compass Group Ireland to provide sausages and black pudding product to all of its units across the country.

Compass Group Ireland runs bar, restaurants and hospitality at venues such as the Aviva Stadium and the restaurant and canteen facilities for larger multinational businesses across the country, and Mr Hodgins this week confirmed to The Corkman that the deal would mean more jobs at the Mitchelstown factory in the Coolenave Industrial Park.

Mr Hodgins added that the company came through a rigorous selection process to win the contract.

""We were audited and there was an inspection of our procedures to ensure we maintain the highest standards to produce quality product.

"This is a huge deal, we're delighted," he said.

Compass Group Ireland said that it endeavours to supporting Irish businesses.

"We are absolutely committed to working with Irish suppliers wherever possible, and our partnership with Hodgins Foods will ensure that our customers continue to enjoy outstanding product, chosen for its quality, freshness and superb Irish recipe and heritage," Fiacra Nagle, managing director, Compass Group Ireland said.
