Information on Great War sought after

Published 27/02/2014 | 05:26

DO you have a relative who took part in the Great War?

Do you have a family story to share, or do you want to find out more about your relative? Do you have any photographs, letters, diaries, medals or other artefacts relating to your relatives war service?

If so, the Cork Branch of the Western Front Association would like to talk to you.

Members of the Cork branch will be present at Mallow Library on Saturday, March 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to answer any queries that people may have regarding their relatives wartime service and to record the details and stories of those Cork men and women.

Photographs, diaries, artefacts and other military memorabilia can be brought along as they will have branch members available who may be able to provide further information about them.

There will also be an interesting selection of Great War artefacts on display.

At 2 p.m. military historian Gerry White will also give a talk entitled 'Cork and the Great War'. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
