Local student Thomas Fogarty (pictured left) from Canon Sheehan Place is a member of the Mallow Kuondo Club and has represented his town, county and country in the sport with marvellous results over the past few years. Now he is looking forward to another major international competition and needs a little local support to get there.

Coached by Mark Buckley Thomas will be travelling to the European Championships in Sweden in May. He travelled to Brighton in England last October and came home with a gold and a bronze medal from the World Open Championships.

Thomas, who has been training with the Mallow club since he was six years old received his black belt at Christmas 2011. He was recently picked for the Irish Squad to represent his country in Patterns, Team Patterns and Sparring.

To help fund his participation in Sweden a fundraising table quiz will take place in the Arches Bar on Thursday, March 21, commencing at 9pm. The charge for tables of four is €40. Every one is asked to support this young man who is doing his home and country proud in the sport of Kuondo
