FREEMOUNT MACRA - Freemount Macra members have been very busy over the Christmas period. Saturday, December 22 saw Freemount combining with Sliabh Luchara Macra and Berrings Macra for a night out in Cork city.

The day after several club members went to local nursing homes to provide entertainment for the residents in the form of singing, music and dance. A great time was had by all despite some sleepy heads from the day before! Once more this year Freemount Macra went Hunting the Wren on St Stephen's Day. It was very much a case of letting yourself go to get into the spirit which is exactly what all members who took part did. Well done to everyone involved.

On Friday December 28th the club held a Christmas Quiz and Karaoke Night in Barry's in Freemount. A great crowd was in attendance and quizmaster on the night was our own Marie Murphy. There was tough competition but in the end the winners were a mixed team consisting of three different Macra clubs from Freemount, Ballinscarthy and Donoughmore. Thanks to everyone who supported the event and who helped out on the night.

To celebrate the New Year in style a large group of club members went to Dingle and had a fun-filled and memorable night.

Avondhu Macra held a debating workshop in Wednesday 2nd January in the Crossroads in Buttevant where members of Freemount's National title winning debating teams took part in a battle of the sexes with members from Mitchelstown and Banteer to show other budding debaters some of the does and don'ts of debating. Well done to Louise Bourke, Claire O'Flynn and Thomas Stritch who were involved on the night.

This week sees the Avondhu Regional Christmas Party and the launch of Aisling Lewis of Mitchelstown Macra's campaign for National Macra President 2013-2015 on Friday January 4th in Auntie Mae's in Mitchelstown at 9pm. The night after is the Capers National Quarter Final which is being hosted by Avondhu Macra in St Mary's Secondary School in Mallow at 8pm. Best of luck to Freemount's Capers team who will be competing and looking for a place in the National Semi Finals later in the month.

The monthly club meeting takes place on 6th of January in the Heritage Centre at 8pm and everyone is welcome.
