Courses on job creation
LOCAL development company Avondhu Blackwater Partnership is set to run a series of courses focussed on promoting job creation and assisting people to prepare for re-employment.
The courses, which will run in Fermoy and Mallow depending on demand, will be specifically targeted at the unemployed, self-employed and those seeking to upskill or diversify.
Each one is tailored to increase the employability of participants as well as provide supports for those interested in staring their own small business.
The 2014 round of courses will include basic guarding skills and door security procedures, occupational first aid, job search with basic IT skills, forklift driving, customer service and sales skills.
Tutors will also offer one-on-one career coaching, job clinics and small business mentoring.
Development officers with the partnership are available to advise potential applicants which courses would be best suited to their needs.
The series is fully funded under the Local Community Development Programme (LCDP), with each course offered free of charge to participants.
Places will be awarded on foot of a simple application process, designed to ensure they are offered to those who can most benefit from the training.
Priority will be given to applicants who are currently unemployed whose jobs are at risk.
