Community Council AGM looks back on another successful year
MOURNEABBEY Community Council AGM takes place on Monday, February 18, at 8pm in the Clyda room of the dressing rooms.
This is open to the public so all are most welcome to attend. Some of the following was achieved throughout 2012 by the community council: held AGM & Elected Executive Officers in February; held six full community council meetings throughout the year; elected new MCC members sent out nomination forms to houses in the following townlands, Burnfort, Greenhill Leim Na Leithe, Monaparson, Toureen North. Those elected were: Dan Joe Browne – Burnfort , Barty O'Connor – Monaparson John O'Connor - Toureen North.
Our new website www.mourneabbey.com was launched in March. Substantial effort made to have the voting in the community centre this has not been successful due to the bureaucracy of the local returning office, closing two schools when a new community centre available is disappointing.
We put in wheelchair toilet in the dressing rooms, works to continue here in the spring. We organised rubbish day in March over a weekend.
We raised more badly needed funds in April from Scrap Saturday part two. We held successful church gate and collection night in dressing rooms for walkway.
We organised quiz night in September in Conway's for the new Hedge. Thanks to help from ICA and fundraising made from floral presentation by Kay Murphy
We held successful senior citizens party. We held our second successful sports day in June.
We made a submission to the Government about the redrawing of the new county council boundaries wishing to stay in the Mallow area.
