Mairead to compete in Irish Open

Best wishes to Mairead Martin a First Year student at Scoil Mhuire who this weekend competes in the Girls U18 Irish Open Stroke Play Amateur Championship at Roganstown Golf & Country Club.

Mairead has shown exceptional talent for a girl of her age and this weekend she will compete against 72 other girls from throughout Europe. We wish her well.

Club plays the joker

Kanturk Soccer Club will present comedian John Kenny at The Edel Quinn Hall, Kanturk on Saturday 27th April. Tickets cost €15 and will be available on the night at the door or from Vinnie's Newsagents, O'Riordan's Filling Station, The USA Stores, Considines in O'Brien Street or any committee member.

Quiz night

There will be a quiz night in Dwyer's Bar, Strand Street, on Friday April 19th at 8.30pm in aid of the Aurelia Trust who organise summer camps for the children of orphanages in Romania. The charge for teams of four is €40. To enter contact Sean Dwyer at the bar or Nora O'Riordan at 087-2603001.

Laharn Cross

A Laharn Cross fundraising dance will be held in The Edel Quinn Hall on Saturday 20th April with music by Jerry McCarthy and Autumn Gold. Dancing from 10pm to 12.30am. Admission €8.

Bowling

Results from the Denis Horgan Bowling Club's Winter Competition played at Sally's Cross. Ned Kelleher and Maurice Cashman beat Paddy O'Keeffe and Donal Cashman for the last shot. Johnny O'Riordan and John Breen beat Liam Casey and Damien Leonard for the last shot. Ned Kelleher and Maurice Cashman beat Paddy O'Keeffe and Donal Cashman by a bowl of odds. Liam Casey and Damien Leonard beat Johnny O'Riordan and John Breen by a bowl of odds.
