€199k for recreational facility with a community walkway

PHIL Hogan Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, has given sanction to West Cork Dev. to approve funding of €199,290 to Clondrohid Community Recreational Facility Ltd., to develop a recreational facility consisting of a community walkway, with site landscaping and furniture, an outdoor gym and 250 metre running track next to the astroturf.

This is the 2nd phase of a two phase development, and has a total estimated project cost of €265,730. Final approval by the West Cork Board is now eagerly awaited.

MUNSTER VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS S.C.F.C FINAL

Congrats to Bishop McEgan College, Macroom, who mounted a great challenge to St. Michael's (Co. Clare) in this recent final.

Unfortunately, they were a few points in arrears when the final whistle blew. Clondrohid Club had 6 players on the team. T.Scannell, B.Corcoran, I. O'Neill, D. Lynch, D.Dineen, and J. Ring with D.Dineen scoring 1-4 from midfield. Well done.

JUNIOR A LEAGUE

Congrats to the Junior A.s who commenced their league campaign in Clondrohid last Sunday, when they overcame Aghinagh by two points in a local derby.

Some good football played throughout.

MINOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Clondrohid minors played Kilnamatrya in Clondrohid last Sunday but unfortunately Kilnamatrya were too strong on the day.

U16 LEAGUE

Clondrohid are playing at the weekend check locally for details.

MASS IN THE HALL

Due to ongoing repairs in the church the weekday and Sunday masses will continue to celebrated in the Community Hall.

REMINDERS

Fun table quiz in aid of Pieta House, in the Tavern on Sunday, March 17 (St. Patrick's night), at 9.30pm. €15 for a table-of-three.

Great night assured with prizes, raffle and auction. Macroom Ploughing Organisation are hosting the West Cork County Ploughing Final in the lands of Coolcower House on Sunday March 10. Results to follow in Coolcower House Hotel that night.
