THE annual National Spring Clean up time is with us once again, this is the time of the year when all the local residents groups in areas all over the county get out and about in their own areas and carry out their annual clean up of their own particular areas.
I have already noticed that a number of groups are already pushing ahead and have their plans already laid out, in quite a number of areas the groups are very well organised, all it takes really is for two or three neighbours to get together and decide- right we will give it a go and invite all other households in the area to come along, all you really need are refuse sacks and gloves in most cases plus a central place to park all the rubbish collected on the night appointed.
Make sure beforehand to have contacted the An Taisce National Spring Campaign by logging onto www.nationalspringclean.org during the month of April. People may also register by phoning (01) 4002219 during the hours 10am to 5pm.
From here on it is easy and An Taisce will try to see to your needs, but make sure that arrangements are made to have the rubbish collected from your area as soon as possible after your clean up day/night.
I am sure that at local level in the Fermoy area, you will receive all the help and advice you need from your local member of the Tidy Town committee or from Cllrs Noel McCarthy, John Murphy and Tadhg O'Donovan or indeed from any Councillor.
Please do not let the opportunity pass by this year, help is at hand right now to help us all to make our own areas much nicer places to live in and in doing so we are helping the National Environment as well as helping Fermoy and District to further improve our appearance and general tidiness in the coming National Tidy Towns and IBAL Anti/Litter campaigns.
