A TALENTED young chef is set for a culinary adventure in Spain after he notched up yet another major award to his ever growing list.
Doneraile native Jack O'Keeffe has been crowned the 2013 Knorr Student Chef of the Year after a thrilling final 'cook off' at IT Tralee,
The competition saw 14 of Ireland's most talented student chefs from colleges across the country go head to head in the kitchen.
As well as the title of best student chef, Jack also won the grand prize, which included a bespoke perpetual trophy and a once-in-a-lifetime culinary adventure to Girona in Spain, where he will take part in an exclusive Catalan cooking master class and dine at the Michelin-starred El Cellar De Can Roca restaurant.
The CIT student prepared a starter of seafood salad followed by a main course of slow cooked cannon of lamb and sweetbreads with aubergine caviar, along with spinach veloute along with carrot glaze.
"I'm over the moon. It's a great honour to win," said Jack. "I put a lot of thought into my menu and I'm glad all the organisation and practice paid off.
"I've a passion for food and I'm thrilled to have won."
