It's time to pick one of Cork's blooming Roses

Rose Joy Dunne from Ballincollig.

THE sun did not come out of hiding on Sunday at Cork Racecourse Mallow so the Rebel Rose hopefuls had to firmly stay indoors as the rain bucketed down.

Despite the pounding rain and dark sky it did not put a damper on the Roses mood as they mingled and chatted with race-goers.

Over the last number of weeks they have been on a whirlwind tour of the county with a series of visits to well known locations, from a kiss of the famed Blarney stone to having a flutter at Curaheen Park and to Cobh to visit the Titanic experience.

However, the serious business starts this Friday and Saturday night when the Roses take to the stage for the 2013 Cork Rose selection at the Silver Springs Moran Hotel in Cork.
