STAFF and students of Centre Stage School in Mallow recently took to the stage of the Firkin Crane Centre in Cork for a toe-tapping musical extravaganza.

Entitled 'Footwork 2013', the show featured numbers from West End musicals including West Side Story and the Phantom of the Opera, treating the audience to a magical evening of acting, song and dance.

The show, which also featured dance pieces from Cork based choreographer David O'Connor, showcased a variety of styles from lyrical to commercial jazz.

The event finished off what had been a very busy year for Centre Stage, who have just brought down the curtain on their award winning production of Miss Saigon.

The show was also used as a platform for the school's annual awards ceremony that saw ten of its students commended in various different disciplines.

Helena Egan won the prestigious Student of the Year award for her commitment and the exceptional progress she had made since September of last year.

Her prize was a scholarship that will allow her to continue with her training next year.
