Three stars of the stage sing their way into final

Catriona Hickey from Kanturk delighted her fans by reaching the Voice of the Glen final.

THE first of the three semi-finals in the 2014 Voice of the Glen talent competition took place in front of a packed audience at the Glen Theatre in Banteer last Friday night.

Eight competitors were put through their paces with, Catriona Hickey (OC Bar, Kanturk), Conor Hartnett (Sunday Night Club, Banteer) and Lorcan Geaney (Moll's Bar, Bweeng) winning through to the grand final of the competition.

The second semi-final will take place at The Glen Theatre next Saturday night at 8.30pm, with another eight hopefuls taking to the stage.

They will be Daniel Roche (Banteer Camogie Club), Elizabeth Withers (Banteer GAA), Andrew Farrell (Scoil Mhuire, Kanturk), Gerard Walsh (Rathcoole Dazzlers and Poaching Association), Una Marie Cremin (Jeff's Bar, Castlemagnier), Nora Kennedy (Deebert Hotel, Kilmallock), Joan O'Leary (Millstreet St Vincent de Paul) and Liam McCarthy (Cork County Open).

All will be hoping to secure a place in the final and the chance to win the top prize of €1,000 and a further €500 for the group or place they represent.

Admission to the semi-final will be €10 with audience members advised to book their tickets early as demand is again expected to be huge.
