Stars take to the stage for Deirdre fundraiser

SOME of Cork's top singers and musicians are set to take to the stage at Cork's City Hall on Easter Sunday (April 20) for a fundraising concert for popular Evening Echo reporter Deirdre O'Reilly.
Deirdre (43) from Bandon and the mother of two young daughters, suffered a massive stroke on December 22 last leaving her with paralysis to her right side and speech difficulties.
She will require intensive rehabilitation over the coming months and her home will also have to be adapted to cater for her needs.
Organised by a trio of Deirdre's colleagues and friends Brian Lougheed, John McHale and Ann Murphy, 'A Concert for Dee' will kick off a series of events taking place during the year organised by The Friend's of Deirdre O'Reilly fundraising campaign.

Among those confirmed to take part in the Easter Sunday concert are soprano's Cara O'Sullivan and Mary Hegarty, Evelyn Grant and Gerry Kelly and Karen Underwood.
They will be joined on the night by the Cork School of Music Big Jazz Band, the Cork Garda Male Voice Choir, the Barrack Street Band and St Finbarr's Pipe Band.
The Kilmeen Drama Group, of which Deirdre is a member, will also perform on the night.
Tickets for 'A Concert for Dee', priced at €30 for the balcony and €20 for general seating, are available from the Irish Examiner/Evening Echo office at 80 Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork.

A trust fund has also been set up for Deirdre at the Bandon branch of the Permanent TSB.
