THE local organising Committee of the annual St Patrick's Day Parade have been working hard over the past few months to ensure that any visitors to Fermoy this weekend will be able to enjoy Fermoy at its best on what has become one of the most stand-out days of the year in the current lifetime of our town.
To add a bit of festive flavour to the occasion, and to put on something special for any prospective visitors to the area for the occasion, the committee members must first of all be made known to our guests and to this end they ask that if you know of anyone who may be making a trip to the area this weekend, to give their names and contact numbers to any member of the group or visit their Website www.fermoypatricksday.com.
On Saturday night they hope to have as many visitors as possible and these include visitors to the surrounding villages and communities to join with them in the Gathering and a "Walk Down Memory Lane". This is scheduled to take place after the 7.30pm Saturday evening Mass, from St Patrick's Church.
To add to the occasion, they ask that people will dress for the occasion in "Sunday Best".
Another social item lined up is the Seisiun organised by the local Comhaltas Group, this will take place in Billy Murphy's Elbow Lane Inn on Saturday night. The Parade itself which will commence as usual at Cavanagh's Garage in Cork Road on Sunday morning March 17 at 11am.
All those taking part in the Parade are asked to make sure that they are all ready to roll before 11am.
