TWO Irish country music legends are set to get together onstage once more to rekindle memories of one of North Cork's best loved music venues.
During the 1980s the Blue Dragon in Kilworth, now the Corbett Court, played host to many memorable concerts by some of the top names in the Irish music industry.
On Easter Monday evening those 'Blue Dragon Days' will be relived with a special concert at Mitchelstown's Firgrove Hotel in the company of the evergreen Philomena Begley and showband veteran Ray Lynam.
Affectionately know as 'Ray and Phil', the duo has between them enjoyed massive chart success, recorded an impressive catalogue of albums and inspired countless artists along the way.
As solo artist they have packed out venues across the country and farther afield, cementing their reputations as two of the finest live performers ever to emerge from the Irish country music scene.
Last year Philomena celebrated five decades in show business once again enjoying chart success with the song 'Billie Jo and Me' a moving tribute to her close friend, the late Bille Jo Spears.
Philomena told the Corkman that she and Ray are really looking forward to getting together once more for the Mitchelstown show, aptly entitled 'The Way Old Friends Do'.
"I have many friends in North Cork from my days performing at venues such as The Blue Dragon. This night will be extra special in that as well as performing with Ray my son Aiden and his band will also be on the bill," she said.
Tickets for next Monday nights gig, which starts at 8.15pm, cost €20 and are available from the hotel on 025-24111.
