THE rejuvenated Ballyhooly Arts Festival will return to the streets of the village later on this month with an exciting and eclectic programme packed full of exciting events.
To be officially opened on Thursday, May 23 by RTE's Eileen Magnier, an open invitation has been issued to people go come along, enjoy a glass of wine and enjoy a photographic exhibition that will set the scene for a fantastic weekend of music, culture and fun.
The evening will continue with a gig by the Berea Bluegrass All-Stars from Kentucky on the festival stage and music until late in local pubs featuring bands from the USA, Germany and across Ireland.
Events on Saturday will include poetry and storytelling workshops, historical walks and music throughout the day including a performance by the award winning Two Time Polka on the festival stage.
Events planned for the Sunday include on-street food and craft stalls, a vintage display, a street busking competition, a motorbike run and music throughout the day.
Once again the day will conclude with festival stage gig by the Berea Bluegrass All-Stars and music in pubs.
The annual art and photo exhibition, in the community centre, will intertwine with the music events to form the backbone of festival. Since its inception artists have flocked to Ballyhooly to exhibit their creations in a variety of media.
