THE curtain is set to come up on the latest production by the Rathcormac based Shanowen Players.
The group are set to following their successful production of John B Keane's Sive with another Irish literary classic, JM Synge's ' The Playboy of the Western World'.
For the past three months members of the group have been hard at work getting into character for the production under the direction of Assumpta Mangan and Kathleen O'Regan with specialist input from Sally O'Leary.
The cast includes a number of veteran performers who have been stalwarts of the Players for a number of years including John Power, Orla Arnold, Frank Buckley and James Aherne.
They are being joined for this production by other local thespians including Hugh Kelleher, Donal O'Leary, Batty Cahill and newcomers to the Rathcormac stage including Erin O'Keeffe, Michelle Lane and Peter Quirke.
The production will open on Friday, February 1 at 8.15pm, with performances also planned at the community hall on February 3, 8 and 10.
Tickets, priced at €10 for adults and €5 for children are available from Spar in Rathcormac or from Frank Buckley on 086 4028398 or Richie O'Regan on 087 2021225.
