STUDENTS from the Mallow Youthreach project are set feature in a programme on RTE last on this year after a camera crew turned up to their annual awards ceremony.

Almost 20 students from the project were honoured for their dedication over the past year at the ceremony which was attended by proud parents, local gardai, local employers, CDYS staff and other stakeholders.

They were presented with their graduation awards by Cllr Tadgh O'Donovan from the Youthreach Mallow Board of Management.

Congratulating them on their achievements he wished them well in the future as they progress towards further education and training.

Students were given another surprise in the form of guest speaker Kelly Mongan, the Fermoy singer who won the audience's hearts on this year's Voice of Ireland talent competition.

Addressing the graduates, Kelly told them to follow their ambitions and never give up on their dreams, no matter what obstacles may be put in their way.

The former Youthreach graduate said that although she left school early she never let that get in the way of her ambitions. "Follow your dreams," Kelly told the graduates. "Despite the ups and downs in life it is important you realise that you can make it if you try."
