It's all systems go for Kanturk Arts Festival

The Kanturk Arts Festival opening concert is on Thursday, March 16th at 7.30pm in The Courthouse.

The superb Lorraine O'Riordan Gospel Choir will perform a set of classic numbers in their gloriously inimitable style.

There will also be surreal comedy from the hilarious Supernatural Brothers. It promises to be a unique and entertaining night. Entry is free and everyone is welcome to come along to what is bound to be a fabulous nights' entertainment.

On St. Patrick's Day, the Duhallow Choral Society will illuminate the 10am mass with their transcendent voices.

The St. Patrick's Day Parade is taking place at 2.30 in the town.

Once the parade finishes, there will the opening of the exhibition in the library from the festival's invited artist Siobhan Burke. Siobhan's wonderful paintings will be on display for a week in the library.

At 7pm, there is the ever-popular "Night Of Drama" in the courthouse. The plays being performed this year are "First Impressions" by Marie O'Halloran, "Too Late" by Mary Bradford, "Take Off" by Mary Angland, "The People vs Aidan O' Keeffe" by Aidan O' Keeffe, "All Trials Are Trials For One's Life" by Peter Keating, "Codes" by Mike Guerin, "The Battle Cry" by Jacqui Feely and "In Therapy" by Ann Leo.

The interval entertainment will be a set from the very talented Colaiste Treasa Trad, Group. Again, entry to this excellent event is free and everyone is welcome.

There is one change to the festival programme. The Genealogy Talk with Karen O'Riordan, Local Studies and Reference Department, Cork City Library on Saturday, March 18th is now on at 2pm. For bookings to this free and popular talk, please text TALK to 087-9444523.

The ninth annual Kanturk Arts Festival takes place from Wednesday, March 15th to Sunday, March 19th.
