Mallow filmmaker Ger Browne's documentary short 'This Old Rag' gets a cinema release this weekend in the Triskel Christchurch Cork.
The film will screen as part of the 'Cork, Like' anthology feature film. This feature-length 'anthology film', initiated by the Cork Film Centre, is composed of nine shorts in diverse genres by Cork-based filmmakers, united by the theme 'Cork' and by the original score by Athos Tsiopani, which plays across all of the films.
Ger Browne's documentary, 'This Old Rag', focuses on the connection people have with various items of clothing in their wardrobes, contrasting the views of non-fashionistas and dedicated followers of fashion alike.
The film is one of five that Browne has worked on in various capacities, from casting to directing, that will feature in the festival.
It also features a fine performance by fellow Mallow man, actor Martin Lucey.
Ger Browne has an MA in film studies and teaches in the Gaiety School of Acting Cork. He has worked on a variety of short films, music videos and corporate work. Currently in producer mode, he has a number of other exciting projects coming up in 2014.
'Cork, Like' runs at the Triskel Christchurch from this Friday to Monday, January 10-13.
The other filmmakers involved are Hayret Abdullah, Cethan Leahy, Kieran Fitzgerald, Robert McCarthy, Ed Cashman, Ross Carey, Gemma McCarthy, and Naoimh Looney.
Having received its premiere at the inaugural IndieCork Film Festival last year, Triskel Christchurch has decided to to present Cork, Like for a more general cinema run.
