COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Buttevant Community Council is continuing its campaign by lobbying the local and national government authorities with regard to the repair and up-grading of the town's main street and foot-paths.

The community council is also lobbying the National Roads Authority with regard to the street repairs as it is within the N.R.A's remit as Buttevant is on the National Primary Route. Some monies have been allocated for the Buttevant area with regard to land -scaping and and street design which would have little or no impact on the amount of work and development needed to be carried out for the betterment of the town and it's residents.

The Community Council is adamant that it will leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of a final solution to Buttevants' street and footpaths' problems. It is hoped that all residents will support the Community Council in it's current campaign.

PLAYGROUND

It is hoped in the near future to add some extra dimensions to the amenities available in Buttevants playground in the Market Green area.

It is hoped to re-activate in conjunction with Buttevant Community Council the former committee which did such trojan work in establishing the now very much used and appreciated amenity.

It is hoped to install a fitness and agility course within the confines of the playground which can be used also by the adult community. Alleyways are being explored to source such equipment and discuss the possibilities of installing such equipment in the playground in the near future.

A meeting with regard to this development will be arranged when all the relevant information is available.

PARADE

The annual Saint Patrick's Day parade will be held in Buttevant this year on Sunday March 17 prior to the 11.30am bilingual Mass.

The parade is being organised by Buttevant Community Council and will depart from the Barrack Gate area of the town. It is hoped that all the local groups clubs and organisations will lend their support to the annual celebration of our patron saint Saint Patrick.

All are asked to congregate at the Barrack Gate area from10am. with the parade due to move off at 10.30am.
