'Buttons' a tale of secrets and desires
Marian has held in a family secret for years and is now being punished for it.
Meanwhile, Katie discovers she has some life changing information.
As they go on their separate journeys to a button shop, they reflect on their decisions and the paths in their lives that have led them there.
When they meet, neither of them know that they are struggling with their dilemmas - but will the search for the perfect button tie them together?
'Buttons', running this week at Cork Arts Theatre, is a story about mothers and daughters, craft and creation, secrets and desires.
Inspired by the Cork Button Company on Pope's Quay in Cork, and the many wonderful craft and haberdashery outlets in the city, Buttons was written and is directed by Marisa O'Mahony. Marisa's first one act stage play, 'Life Gets Tasteless', was produced for the Cork Arts Theatre Lunchtime Season in 2012, and she has worked as a member of the storyline writing team on RTE's 'Fair City' and TG4's 'Ros Na Run'.
Antoinette Hilliard and Katrina Foley play in this two-hander and both have lengthy lists of credits. Running from until this Friday, August 15 at 1pm as part of the Lunchtime Season in the Cork Arts Theatre, tickets for Buttons are €10, including a light lunch.
