DESPITE the recession and the pervasive doom and gloom, a young Kanturk woman has decided to follow her dream and set up a theatre production company, boldly named 'Wild Boar Productions'.

Aileen Lehane is a creative young lady who has a backround in set design and the arts, having worked on such productions as 'Big Maggie', 'The Rivals', The 'Playboy of the Western World', 'Hansel and Gretel' and recently produced and stage managed the 'Duhallows Finest' concert for Diadhuit Suicide Prevention Ireland.

With this accumulated wealth of knowledge, it was a 'no-brainer' to follow her first love and set up the company. " I have always loved all aspects of the arts but the performing arts in particular give me a great buzz", she told The Corkman.

Currently Aileen is working on a piece of street theatre in association with the Kanturk Foroige Club, which will be showcased at this weekend's St Patrick's Day parade. "Rehearsals are going very well, and the young people are full of energy and enthusiasm for the project. I don't want to say too much about it but I think people will be pleasantly surprised with the end result," she says.

As if Aileen has't enough on her plate, she is also helping Kanturk Community Council with their variety show, which will be staged on April 6, and is planning a Stage School Camp for kids which, she says ,''will help to to build children's confidence".
