ST. PATRICKS GAA club in Tullow won't be fielding a hurling team in 2012 at Intermediate or Junior level because of a lack of available players.
That's according to club chairman Chris Murphy.
"We decided not to enter a team because come June and July we'd be giving walkovers and we don't want to be a club that concedes games like that" said Murphy.
"We're losing lads to emigration and lads are committed to colleges too and if you don't have players, you can't field a team, some of those that are available are going to go in to Carlow Town I believe, so lads will get to hurl" finished the chairman.
This is a terrible blow for the Tullow club having won the Junior hurling championship in 2009. The skill and interest in the game is clearly there but for now they can concentrate on football where they find themselves in the Intermediate ranks with St. Andrews replacing them at Senior.
