SCORING wasn't one of the stronger points from the two teams as they managed a draw in a disappointing Minor football championship A semi-final at Dr. Cullen Park on Sunday morning.
Endeavour couldn't be faulted but the closeness and nearness that players are playing to each other militates against good open football.
Throughout the game each team had their few minutes of total dominance at different times, but they really failed to take the opportunities and chances that presented themselves for a few fleeting moments from time to time. If the forwards on each side had taken half the chances the score would have been far greater.
Tinryland started briskly and were 0-3 to 0-1 up after 12 minutes. St. Andrew's battled back and with hard work edged passed Tinryland by a point at the break.
It was nip and tuck all through the last period and when the goal chances went a begging it was clear a draw was on the cards. It was a game that the defences were on top as they frustrated the forwards.
For Tinryland Eoin O'Gorman, John Dwyer, John Jackson, Barry Power Ciaran Townsend, Conor O'Brien tried hard and they were hanging on by a point and almost a place in the final coming in to the final minute.
Not to be outdone it was a cool Andrew Beaton that steadied himself and swung over the equaliser from an acute angle. Jamie Clarke, Thomas Murphy, Jason Dermody, Conor Murphy and David McDonald were prominent for St. Andrew's.
Tinryland lost Marcus Lawler through Injury.
