THERE WAS another good afternoon of athletics at the Carlow Uneven Age Juvenile Cross Country championships in St. Laurence O'Toole's Askea on Sunday last. The day's proceedings were again dominated by the host club who had individual winners in all but three events on the day.
There were some very dominant performances on the day including from the likes of the very impressive Corine Kenny in the girls U-11, Siofra O'Flaherty who produced a superb run in the girls U-15 race, Jamie Wall of Tinryland in the boys U-15 while Jack Mitchell won the boys U-13 run in what was the most exciting finish of the day.
Others to win on the day were Jenny Sawyer, girls U-9, Jack Murphy, boys U-9, Fiachra Fitzpatrick, boys U-11, Chloe Nolan, girls U-13, Vera Nekrassova, girls U-17 and James Kelly, boys U-17.
The next event on the calendar is the Leinster Even Age/Novice and Masters Cross Country championships in Avondale, Rathdrum in Wicklow on Sunday October 28 at noon with the Uneven Age and Intermediate Cross Country taking place in Dunboyne in Meath on Sunday November 11 at noon. The Carlow Senior Cross Country championships and relays will be held in Tinryland on Sunday January 6th.
