THE qualifiers from the south Leinsters at Clongowes made their way to Santry last Wednesday for this year's Leinster Cross Country school finals.

The outstanding performance for Carlow was Siobhra O'flatherty St. Leo's who was a very impressive of the Minor Girls race.

The Carlow girl broke away at about half way in this 1500m race and increased her lead all the way to the finish.

Siobhra now goes to the All-ireland in Galway in March and it will be very hard to stop her take the title. In the same race Lauren Kealy Borris V.S. qualified for the All-ireland in tenth place.

Carlow schools will not have a huge representation at this year's All-ireland. Knockbeg's Senior team took second place and if they manage to get to Galway with a full team they will be medal contenders. Kevin Brennan in fifth place was their first man home. They also have two Minors through in Conor Crowley and John Byrne.

The only other local to qualify was Graham Power Presentation College who was tenth in the Senior race.
