CARLOW Handball Board introduced the first One Wall Juvenile county championship on Saturday which was played in the purpose built court attached to Bagenalstown Vocational School.
A large number of players took part and as this is the first of its kind to be played in Carlow it is hoped that this type of handball will continue to grow throughout the county and it is possible that One Wall handball will be included in the 2020 Olympics. Any school that would like to include this sport as part of their curriculum can contact any of the county board officers.
The results are as follows - U-10 Singles Final: Thomas Byrne G/H beat Joe Regan T/R 11/2; B Singles Final: Aarron Lennon G/H beat Laura Donovan T/R 12/4; U-12 A Singles Final: PJ Ryan G/H beat Jamie Ryan G/H 12/7; U-14 A Singles Final: Cormac O'Brien T/R beat Dinny Farrell T/R 12/7.
In other handball news Dinny Farrell produced some fine handball when he defeated Mark Moore from Westmeath in the Leinster final. The Carlow player never allowed his opponent to get into the match and won his game 31-12 to bring his first title home.
