Transition-year students at St. Leo´s College who are to receive a valuable scholarship to Germany this summer.


Knockbeg performed well at the Leinster Schools Cross Country Championships on Wednesday last. The day got off to a great start with Conor Crowley and John Byrne both qualifying as individuals for the All Ireland. The Senior team brought home silver team medals after a hard fought team race with Mullingar. Hopes would be high that this team can medal again at the All Ireland on March 10 in Galway.


Congratulations to Joseph Barry, Declan Saruwatari and David Lonergan who were all selected for interview by Goethe Institute for a German Scholarship trip to Germany this summer. All three students achieved over 95% in their Junior Certificate Exams last summer and this was the basis for their selection.


Congratulations to the Knockbeg 1st Year Football team that defeated Portlaois C.B.S , 2-07 to 0-03 in the Laois 1st Year Second Level Schools Final in O'moore Park on Saturday 4th February last.

They played this final under floodlights before the Laois/mayo Senior National Football League game. Best for Knockbeg on the day were : Ceilim Darcy, Daragh Phelan, Lir Mcdonald and Michael Doran.


Congratulations to the following 1st Year Knockbeg students : Keith Doyle, Sean Nolan, Daniel Mccabe, Mark Mcdonald Patrick Shaughnessy , Michael Aborishade and Evan Mooney who all won prizes in the Irish Catholic Schools Poster Competition.
