Carlow boys and girls help Irish team win 27 medals

A group of Carlow karate clubs helped their national team bring home a huge haul of medals from the Welsh Open Karate League recently.

The Irish team comprised of competitors from Carlow, Ballinabranna, Bigstone and Ballon Karate Clubs who all made their way over to Wales for the competition. Ireland brought home nine gold, five silver and 13 bronze medals in total after a wonderful weekend.

In the league table which saw 24 clubs with over 400 competitors in total, Carlow were second, with Bigstone fifth, Ballinabranna 11th and Ballon 16th. This was a great achievement for each of the clubs. Well done to all who took part for some great performances.
