Carlow capture elusive victory
Win cannot prevent relegation

IT TOOK 11 games for them to get it right but they did it in fine style as Carlow Rugby Club travelled away to Monkstown on Saturday and came away with a six point win.
It looked like Carlow were not only set for the drop but that they would finish the year on one solitary point, but staring in the face of disaster the Carlow men rallied to the cause and, lead in no small part by Ritchie Whyte, they undid Monkstown.
Barry Waddock was ruled out of the encounter before kick off and at this point no man would have given Carlow any hope but the black and yellow men soldiered for their captain and pulled off the most unlikely of wins.
Sadly for Carlow they cannot avoid relegation, but they can look forward to competing strongly in the Towns Cup later this month.
