Athletes fare well in Leinster
Double gold for U-14 teams
SIX ST LAURENCE O'TOOLE teams travelled to the Leinster Juvenile Cross Country on Sunday to a very cold Ballyroan in County Laois and returned with several successes after some quality running by all involved.
First up were the girls U-12 with Rhian Kidd kicking off the day running a great leg and Robyn Pursur, Aoife Ryan and Corrine Kenny holding on to second place the whole way through and coming home with silver medals.
Next up was the boys U-12 with Eoghan Byrne starting but due to a lot of pushing at the start fell and did extremely well to make up ground that was lost. Brothers Jack and Ben Akerele were next up with Jamie Cooper finishing strong.
We had two teams in the girls U-14 and Katie Curran led the B team into first place for the first 400m but Anna Doyle handed the baton over for the A team in third place with strong runs by Natasha Doyle and Chloe Nolan next followed by a great run by Sara Doyle who brought home her team in first place.
The other girls on the B team also ran well Roisin Fahy, Caitlin O'Sullivan and Katie Curran.
The boys U-14 also brought home gold medals with Ben Dorgan, Ruairi O Conchubhair and Scott Cooper running great and a storm of a finish by Hugh Dooley to capture the gold for this very talented bunch of athletes.
There was another big field in the girls U-16 which was great to see from a Carlow point of view in what was a very successful meet for the county.
