The Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow will welcome competitors from 27 different countries next month, as they host the 2013 International Billiards and Snooker Federation World Team Championships and World 6-Red Championships. The events begin on Sunday, September 29, and will run until October 8.
Each of the 27 participating countries has entered up to 12 of their top players to vie for the title of 'IBSF World Team Champions 2013' and 'IBSF World 6 Red Champion 2013'. Ireland will be represented by a very strong team. Over thirty referees will also travel to the event from all over the world, as well as players and coaches families, in what is to be a great boost for the Carlow area.
Play will start each morning at 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. with free admission. Marian and Jim Leacy of the Ivy Rooms are urging the people of Carlow to come out and witness some of the world's top amateur snooker players in action.
