Up close with stars' trophy

PUPILS from Gaelscoil Cheatharlach were more than happy to take a break from their books when they got the chance to lift the Heineken Cup.

As part of a province wide trophy tour Leinster Rugby paid a visit to the school and they were warmly welcomed by their many young fans.

Fifth and sixth pupils in the Gaelscoil play tag rugby so they were particularly happy to see the cup and meet the mascot Leo the Lion.

The pupils were all dressed for the occasion in their Leinster jerseys and bunting and flags were erected around the school.

The visit was part of a promotion run by Leinster rugby team to promote their rugby summer camps and more than 50,000 school pupils around Leinster are getting the opportunity to see the cup and learn more about rugby.

The Gaelscoil pupils were quizzed about Leinster on the day and with plenty of correct answers many of the youngsters went home with a free hat.
