Thousands of euro of cigarettes are stolen from shop

GARDAI in Carlow are investigating the theft of thousands of euro worth of cigarettes from a premises on the Hacketstown Road in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

The incident took place between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. at Dolmen Stores and saw two men cut large holes in the roof to gain access to the property.

Once inside, they immediately went for the cigarette machine and stole a 'large quantity' of cigarettes before fleeing the scene.

One of the men was said to be around 6ft2" in height and wearing a red balaclava, while the other man wore a baggy leather jacket.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them at Carlow Garda Station.
