CARLOW/KILKENNY TD Ann Phelan benefited from the recent cabinet reshuffle, as she was appointed Minister of State at the Departments of Agriculture, Tourism and Transport.

Deputy Phelan will have particular responsibility for rural economic development and rural transport and is looking forward to working closely with the agricultural community in her new role. Interestingly, Deputy Phelan was the only female to have received a promotion in the cabinet reshuffle, however, she was delighted to accept her new role and intends to dive straight in.

Deputy Phelan was first elected to the Dáil in 2011, having previously represented the Thomastown electoral area on Kilkenny County Council since 2004. She was the only change as part of the reshuffle which impacted the Department of Agriculture.
