A YOUNG Carlow performer has become no stranger to the television screen and has already filmed nine shows of an RTÉ junior programme.
Six- year- old Faith Lewin- O'Brien from Monacurragh featured in the children's show The Curious World of Professor Fun and Dr Dull. Following auditions she was selected for a part as an Artling, a child on the show who dresses up and learns new things each week, like how to bake a cake.
The first three episodes that she filmed were aired over the weekend on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Faith, who is in senior infants at Carlow Educate Together, has been a member of Carlow's Dance Republic since she was three years old.
RTÉ contacted the dance school looking for pictures of children of a certain age. A photo of Faith and two of her friends, twins Niamh and Laura, was sent in. After auditions all three were called back. Faith got the role of an Artling and the twins filmed a piece for the Beo show, also on RTÉ junior.
'She doesn't want to go to school – all she wants to do is go to RTÉ,' said Faith's mother, Liz O'Brien.
'Her school report card said she just lights up when it comes to drama. She just loves it.' Faith's biggest fan is her grandmother Elizabeth O'Brien, and she travels with her to every episode filming. 'I am so proud of her and her achievement in winning the part,' she said. Another 90 episodes are due to start filming for the show in January, and Faith is lined up to take the role yet again of an Artling.
