THE COMMUNITY was saddened to learn of the passing of a 41-year-old Carlow man who was killed on Sunday afternoon in a single vehicle road traffic collision just outside of Tullow.
James 'Jimmy' Shaw from Brownshill Court, Carlow town, died at the scene of the accident shortly before 4pm at Slaneyquarter on the Tullow to Castledermot road around 3km outside Tullow.
He was from a well known and respected Carlow family from Brownshill and he leaves behind his loving parents Jim and Mary (nee Power), brothers and sisters, Madeleine, David, Killian, Emer and Mary, two brother-in-laws Paul and Jamie, nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.
Jimmy was a great musician, he played the guitar and had a great singing voice. He was often spotted on the streets of Waterford busking with his golden Labrador Marley.
All who knew him, knew he loved to sing.
He regularly played gigs in Waterford, sang at parties and took any opportunity he had for a sing song.
He was a big Christy Moore fan and enjoyed all traditional music.
He loved to travel and jet setted to many unusual places in Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Egypt and Morocco just last summer.
He was a reserved man who liked to keep to himself but at the same time was popular and had many friends.
Gardai in Tullow are investigating his accident and are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have any information to contact them.
James was the driver and the sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene before his body was removed to a local undertakers.
