Saoirse in running for award at IFTAs

Ardattin teenager Saoirse Ronan has been nominated in the Best Lead Actress category at this year's Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs).
The event, which has been dubbed the 'Irish Oscars' will take place in the Hilton on Burlington Road in Dublin on April 5 and the Carlow superstar will be hoping to take the award for her role in the vampire flick 'Byzantium'.
Saoirse will face still competition in the category however as she comes up against Antonia Campbell-Hughes who is nominated for her role in '3096'; Kelly Thornton for her role in 'Life's A Breeze' and Jane McGrath for her role in 'Black Ice'.
Ronan was the talk of the red carpet and once again garnered global attention at the recent Berlinale International Film Festival where she appeared with the case of 'The Grand Budapest Hotel', among them Bill Murray, Ralph Fiennes and Jeff Goldblum.
People all over the Ardattin woman's home county will be anxiously tuning into their TV sets for the IFTAs in the hope that Saoirse can continue on her meteoric rise to one of Hollywood's most sought after actresses.
