TULLOW MAN Sean O'brien has pledged his support for Special Olympics Ireland's Collection Day, which will take place throughout Ireland on Friday April 27.

This is the biggest annual fundraising event in aid of Special Olympics Ireland and is hugely important to the organisation.

The Leinster and Ireland Rugby hero is urging people throughout Carlow to help out on the day by volunteering to collect in their local town for a few hours.

'I am proud to fan the flame for Special Olympics Ireland. Special Olympics athletes are hugely dedicated to their sport and train very hard to be the best they can be. By volunteering to collect on April 27 we will all be showing these athletes just how much we support them.'

250 volunteers will be needed throughout Co. Carlow to look after the collection points in Hacketstown, Tullow, Carlow and Bagenalstown.

In addition volunteers are needed to support members of An Garda Síochana's Cops on Donut Shop initiative in aid of Special Olympics Leinster.
