A GROUP of pharmacists from Carlow attended the south east regional AGM on Wednesday to try and improve services.
The meeting discussed expanding the role of the pharmacist and the benefits for both patients and the State in allowing pharmacists to provide additional key services including chronic disease management, health screening and treating minor ailments.
These services will not only improve health outcomes for patients but will also deliver efficiencies and savings for the Exchequer. The meeting heard that pharmacists are administering the flu vaccination to patients, including extending it to those on the all-at-risk list.
