CATHAOIRLEACH of Carlow Town Council Eileen Brophy urged council members to encourage the people of Carlow to vote yes in the upcoming Children's Referendum. Cllr Anne Ahern was in agreement saying, ' There is a cultural shift happening - this is a new Ireland where children have rights. However people must not be complacent when it comes to the referendum being passed and so I would urge people to get up and vote yes.'
Cllr John Cassin said, 'I believe this referendum is long overdue. Up until now children have been largely ignored so I wholeheartedly support this. Although I would agree with Cllr Ahern and am worried that people may be complacent.'
Voters go to the polls this Saturday November 10.
