HAVING been such a success last year, a meeting to prepare for the Pan Celtic International Festival 2013 will be held this Thursday in the Seven Oaks Hotel at 6.15pm. This year the festival will run April 2 to 7 and is set to be a significant event in Carlow's Gathering Ireland 2013 calendar. Pan Celtic is an international festival held annually to celebrate the Celtic cultures of the six participating nations, which are Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Brittany, Cornwall and the Isle of Man.
In existence since 1971, it has been hosted by various towns across Ireland. Carlow town was a hive of activity last April with the visiting Celtic communities celebrating and sharing their traditions and cultures in music, song, dance and storytelling over six days.
Bríde de Roiste, one of the organisers, said: 'Following the festival's huge success, Carlow aims to put on an even more impressive festival this year.
'For full details on Pan Celtic 2013, we would encourage everyone to come along to the meeting on Thursday night. All interested in planning the festival programme or organising fringe events are invited and encouraged to attend.'
