A LORRY DRIVER who failed to record the gross weight he was carrying on a tacograph was fined €200 when he came before Judge Sheridan at Carlow District Court.
Patrick Breen, of Ballydonegan, Ferns, Co. Wexford, pleaded guilty to the tacograph offence at Rathcrogue, Carlow, on July 7, 2011.
Inspector Martin Walker told the court that at 4.50 p.m. the defendant was stopped by Garda Lawlor. The gross weight was 18,000 kilograms which had not been recorded on the tacograph.
Defence Solicitor, John O'sullivan, said he had received a letter from the defendant who is out of the country at the moment. He said he did not realise that he had to use the tacograph while carrying goods for himself.
Judge Sheridan imposed a fine of €200.
