Horror crash claims life of Paddy

CARLOW roads claimed another life and left several others injured in a collision on the Old Bagenalstown to Carlow road at Ballybannon on Saturday.
The two-vehicle collision involving a blue Renault Megane and a black Ford Puma saw 42-year-old Paddy Doran from Graiguecullen lose his life while seven other people were injured. A post mortem was due to take place at Waterford University Hospital. Mr Doran was believed to have been a back seat passenger in one of the vehicles when the horrifying incident took place.
Of the seven other people injured, two males aged 33 and 36 years were both airlifted to Waterford University Hospital for treatment. A further two males, aged 13 and 33, and three females, aged 46, 50 and 80, were taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny. Three of the people taken to hospital were occupants in the car Mr Doran was in, while the remaining four, were travelling in the other vehicle.
Three of the seven people injured during the course of the incident were described as being in 'serious condition'. All of the people involved were said to have been from the Carlow area.
The incident took place at approximately 5 p.m. on Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
